PSU's to avoid?

I'm looking to buy a PSU for an old Pentium 4. I had a 300W FSP PSU and it is dead after 5 years of use. I want another 3-5 years out of this computer, so I'd like to know what PSU's + PSU brands I should avoid that are below 40-50 dollars. Also, recommendations for quiet PSU's in this price range are accepted. My last PSU was quiet, even under load.

380w antec earthwatts will serve your needs just fine, is a seasonic built PSU, and should easily last 3-5 years. I think it has at least 3 year warranty as wel, maybe 5. If you check out newegg.com you might be able to buy the 380w EA for 20-30$.

How about another Fortron? Or an Antec Basiq or Earthwatts? Hardocp did a $50 PSU roundup a couple weeks ago.

Avoid anything that says Deer, Aspire, or "Magic Smoke" Powmax.. My suggestion at that budget range in the Antec Earthwatts.

What happened to Fortron? Used to be budget king but I suppose better units have came along. I still wouldn't nessecarily pass over it though.

Also check out the Earthwatts 430W. The reason is that they all have a $30 rebate. The 430W ends up being $30 and the 380W ends up being $20. HOWEVER, the 380W has an $8 shipping charge while the 430W has FREE shipping, thus the real price difference is around $2 (after same sized rebate). That is, if the deal is still going on at Newegg.
