I've been searching for PSU's the last few weeks and Ive found a few im interested in, but none more interesting that this one.
Logisys PS550AC
If anyone knows if this is a reliable powersupply please tell me. Cuz it would make a great addition to my PC.
OP, a $40 PSU with all the bell and whistles is questionable at best.
The output is probably rated at 25C. By the time the PSU gets to 35C it's output
will have fallen considerably.
OP, go to www.jonnyguru.com. Read all the linked pages on the right of the opening
page. He doesn't get real technical, he keeps it simple.
A decent PSU can be had for around $60. The really good'ens hover around $100.
I've got a brand-new PCP&C 510 SLI waiting for my Christmas build. I haven't hooked it up (needs some draw on the 5v rail to run properly, apparently), but it just screams no-nonsense quailty. If you have the cash pop for one.
I realllly don't think that PSU is capable of 550W. Maybe 550W like Codegen's are 550W... but what's really scary is the LACK of information. Even Newegg is afraid of showing a clear shot of the sticker.
According to Xoxide it does 25A on the 12V rail. I'm willing to bet that's with nothing else on any other rail.
Seriously, if it's a price thing.. up the budget.
If it's because it's in a clear acrylic housing... get over it. It's not serving any practical purpose.
