my case came with a 16 bucks powmax, and I just think I need a new one 🙂, so I have 50 bucks to spend, does a 450 watts fortron do it?

my rig

asus p5wd2
3.4 prescott
1 gig ddr 2
160 gig HD
6800 gt
dvd burner
4 case fans

PSU's are strange things where you get exactly what you pay for. $16 isn't very promising, I'd get the Fortron.

Powmax is utter crap... If you get a POS noname brand like Powmax, it could blow up and possibly take your motherboard with you. That 450W Fortron for $50 is an excellent PSU. Fortron makes some of the best PSU's on the market.

Fortron's 450 is a conservative 450 so it probably makes more power than advertised. Dad has his p4 with a sparkle psu which is a fortron and they aren't that bad. I agree it's an awesome psu.
