PSU troubles?

This is just a generic question but I thought I would try anyways.

My current system seems pretty stable. But once in awhile, usually days apart it will freeze for no apparent reason. Not gaming, just surfing the web for instance. And its always a freeze upon the loading of a site.

Other times it freezes directly upon boot at the desktop. A reboot fixes it without a problem and it doesn't do it again for days.

Is this a potential PSU problem? Anything else I could look for? First thing I am going to do is reinstall windows as this computer has switched hardware quite often.

Thanks for any ideas.

If you installed a new motherboard without reloading windows then that is a good source of your problem. What power supply are you running right now? You should have a 350w+ quality power supply for stability.

I have an ultra xconnect 500w.

I did the original install with this motherboard, however during testing of things I swapped the mobo and such out numerous times. So hopefully this is the problem. Driver conflicts somewhere. Hopefully after the new install I will be good to go. If not, I will test the PSU next.

THanks

run a chkdsk /r and memtest. If your HD or memory happen to have a bad sector, the computer will just randomly crash in the even it hits that particular area of memory.
