PSU suggestions for my system

Allright I think my old 300w psu has finally had the last straw. I hooked up my 4th hard drive to my system and the first thing that happened was the sound stopped working. I reinstalled the sound drivers and unhooked the 4th hard drive but then the mouse started working. I can't get the damn thing to power the optical mouse anymore. Didn't even do it after a reformat so I figure the power supply is getting screwey (still boots up fine tho). My question is, i'm debating between a couple power supplies to hopefully get my system back on it's feet. I'm thinking either the Antec TruePower 430w or the Thermaltake 480w psu both from newegg. I know the antec is more expensive and price is def. a concern for me, and I was hoping somebody had experience running either of these psu's in multiple HD systems. My system is as follows:
Athlon XP 1600+
512mb pc2100
Radeon 8500 128mb
Audigy 1
4 Hard Drives (2 40gig, 2 120gig)
CD-RW
DVD-ROM
3 case fans

Can anybody suggest a good PSU for this setup (doesn't necessarily have to be antec or thermaltake so long as it's reliable and relatively inexpensive)

Go with the Antec TruePower, I have used about four of these PSU's and never had a problem with them. You probably could use a quality 380W without much trouble, especially since you were using a 300W before. You can go with the 430W though if you feel you are going to be expansing your system a lot more, adding more HD's, better video card, etc.

I really like my CoolMAx tarus CX PSU

THey r cheaper then fortons at newegg, but a ton quieter.

Go with Antec True power 480W or 550W. I have five hard drives on the 550W PSU.

Antec have always been reliable, and i have never hasd any issues at all.

I've got the SkyHawk here. Very cheap, AMD (even on their official recommendation list ) and Intel approved.

2 thermal controlled fans, 8 hard drive connectors with very LONG leads, P4, ATX, 4 floppy (I think, perhaps more). The only thing it's missing is SATA power connector.

Getting great voltages and should be good enough for all current XP CPUs. I'm in the UK, so I'm not sure about availability where you are.

If you don't plan on upgrading your cpu, you won't really need an Antec TruePower. You could get by with just about any 400 watt psu. But, if you plan on upgrading to a faster cpu, then definitely get a TruePower. My 480w TruePower is running my mobile XP2600 at 2530mhz at the moment, along with two 7200 rpm hd's and two optical drives, plus 4 fans that total almost 2 amps!😀 Without a 1 amp cpu fan, though, you could get by for many years to come with a TruePower 430: link, even if you get a faster cpu and decide to overclock the crap out of it.

edit: You might want to try this Allied here that's only $32: link. It's got really decent specs for such a cheap psu.
