PSU Suggestion

Hey,

My dad's pc PSU died (my old Noisetaker 420w from Enermax), so now he wants his Earthwatts 500w back which I traded with him.

So I will need a new PSU for myself. Some important things to consider, STABILITY IS NUMBER ONE CONCERN, next is I want what I buy now to be able to handle a PC upgrade that will no doubt occur a year from now to whatever becomes a bang for buck CPU + GPU upgrade.

I have had ZERO problems with the Earthwatts 500 running my current setup (in sig) but OC'd to 3.4GHz and GPU is also oc'd slightly.

Suggestions are much appreciated... budget is ~$80 hopefully

cant go wrong with the seasonics. Also i just bought a XFX 650w XXX for the girlfriends comp and it looks like a very high quality unit, and also seems to have the lowest voltage fluctuations and most stable rails of any psu i have seen since some of the old PC&P untis from 10+ years ago. Im jelous actually and am considering swapping my corsair for one of the XFX units.

If you are thinking about not doing SLI or CF, a quality 600-650W PSU can handle the most powerfull graphic card available nowadays. It would be better if you say us what card you want. Anyway, here you have some good options for replacing the earthwatts:

ANTEC TruePower New 550W (by Seasonic) (modular)
CORSAIR VX550 550W (by CWT)
ENERMAX LibertyEco II (ELT500AWT-ECO II) 500W (modular)
ENERMAX Pro82+ (EPR525AWT II) 525W
ENERMAX Modu82+ (EMD525AWT II) 525W (modular)
SEASONIC S12II Bronze (SS-520GB) 520W
THERMALTAKE Toughpower Qfan (W0151) 500W (by CWT) (modular)
OCZ Fatal1ty 550W (by Sirtec) (modular)
COOLER MASTER Silent Pro M 500W (by Enhance Electronics) (modular)

You can find useful information and qualified reviews about these and other quality PSUs at the RealHardTechX PSU Review Database: http://personales.ya.com/realhardtechx/index_archivos/Page541.htm

is bfg still alive in psus?

i can get
OCZ StealthXStream OCZ500SXS 500W for 10$ ar
BFG GS-550 550W 30$ ar
Corsair 550vx 50$ ar

whats the best buy here?

Corsair for sure. OCZ makes Mid range PSU's at best, and im being nice by saying that. BFG is no longer in business. So the corsair is the obvious choice.

The VX550 is the best option and 50$ is a great price.
OCZ has some high quality units but, unfortunately, the StealhXstream 500W is not one of them.
