I know that the xclio has a 24 pin adapter, but the adapter doesn't actually supply extra power according to the ps guide post. If you look at the pic of the adapter, i think that the 4 extra pins are not actually wired.

The XClio is a native 24pin...

and comes with a 24-pin to 20-pin adapter for older mobos

Look what I said above, It takes the 24 pin PSU and adapts it down to 20 pins just like ribbon13 is telling you too.

Look on the adapter at which one is male and which one is female. The male end is 20 pins and the female end is 24 pins (meaning you plug the 24 pin PSU into the 24 pin end and plug the 20 pin end into an older 20 pin motherboard).

You can also tell it's 24 pins because of the dual rail spec.

Gonna really consider that xclio now. do you think it will still have power for upgrades like dual core? the enermax has 18a on each rail.

Does anyone else think the xclio is the way to go?

I don't know how much power dual core processors take up. I'd imagine you would be fine with it. If you plan on keeping this powersupply for a long time, I'd say get one of the more expensive ones, but if you want to keep it on a budget I think the XClio would be a good choice.

If you don't add a bunch of extra stuff (like many harddrives etc.) then you should be fine with dual core unless it's some power hungry monster that I'm not aware of.

It's oos at newegg and chiefvalue right now though, so that might make the decision for you if you're planning on getting this soon.

vote for xclio, your system could easily run on a quality 350watt or even 300watt.

Im going to build this computer in one or two months when schools out, but I just want everything planned. I'll be on the look out for any other psu s that are a better value than the xclio, but thats pretty hard to beat.

Are there any reviews on that xclio? Can anyone else confirm xclio good?

I wouldn't plan everything yet... in two months everything we tell you now will be out of date. Just come by again a few days before you order and we'll let you know what's up

EDIT: or better yet, keep you eye on hot deals and build your system a component at a time... you'll save money on the system if you buy it out of hot deals.

Will parts really be cheaper out of hot deals? I know that if it was only like a 3 week wait, hot deals would be hot, but wouldn't one or two months wait have things cheaper by the wime I am ready to build?

Generally things are going to be cheaper. I'm not sure how ram prices are going to go... they might be at a low point right now before they increase (I have no idea).

I think if you jump on the deals (especially harddrive deals) you'll do better than you would if you just got regular prices a couple months from now. There are some awesome case deals once in a while too.

ive waited a month and no matter what, the xclio is always out of stock. anyone have a clue on that and if it will come back?

if not, what other power supply would you guys reccomned?

I think the modstream has a kinda weak rail for the price. some other ones have dual rails and are atx 2.0 compliant. does this matter?

For future-proofing, yes.....

Try the FSP-550. You can find them for around 80 bucks around the web. It is as strong as they come in it's category. It's native 24 pin, and the ratings are SUSTAINED, not peak amps as most other companies advertise.
