Hey i want to replace my psu. i was going to get the Corsair 750 based on all the good reviews on newegg. however i saw anandtech review and this concerns me

The tests also show that DC voltage regulation is not very tight and we saw large drops on almost every rail. The important 12V rail does best, but then it also has the highest ripple readings we've seen from a high-end power supply this year. Noise levels are also a negative, since the PSU is relatively loud even at lower loads, and anything above 80% load results in a very loud PSU.

My current set up is
Asus p45 mobo
Intel Q9450
3 hard drives(one being a raptor150)
Evga 9600 gt

i will eventually get a 9800 or better

my question is should someone like myself who doesnt really overclock ( if i do it wont be extreme) be worried about this psu volt regulation not being tight(especially since i don't really understand it)? Is there another 100ish buck psu you all think i should look at?

Why do you want to replace your psu exactly ? Going from modular to non modular, a quiet unit to a less quiet unit, etc etc ?
 
Is the HX620 broken? Assuming not, even if you add a 9800 (which I guess would mean a GeForce 9800GT/GTX), the HX620 will handle it happily.
 
RMA it, there should be a 5yr warranty on it, so Corsair replace it with a new one. Provided you didn't break the warranty seal ...
 
Get the 650TX
It's a Seasonic unit. It's different from the 750. I have the 650 and it's great. Your system won't come close to maxing a 650 out. Even with a 9800GTX.

For one the TX650 is the exact same PSU as the HX620, only non-modular...so what would you gain by switching to that? Second, is there a reason you think you need a new PSU specifically for the system you mentioned above?

Lastly IMO that Zalman is a good PSU.

He said his PSU went bad so he needs a new one.
 
he also said he was going to RMA it and get a replacement....but he needs something else for his Vista build

Overpriced and its power output on the +12V rail is equal to that of the PC P&C Silencer 750 and Corsair 750TX. The BFG PSU I linked to earlier is a better deal.
