will underpowering a computer possibly damage components?

reason why i'm asking: i'm about to install an x800xt PE into my dell 4600. its got 2 HDs and two optical drives and an audigy 2, all running on the stock PSU. people on the forums here say that the PSU is rated at 300W.

anyhow, i just don't want to damage my new vid card.

any comments are appreciated. thanks.

many have run 6800GTs in their 250W Dells with no problems. a 6800GT's power usage will be similar to that of a x800xt pe

the Sparkles are of very high quality and are conservatively rated

just to make sure, open your case and tell us a bit about the power supply

Yeah, look on the label. It should tell you how many amps there are on the +12V rail, which is the most important thing.
