Fortron/Sparkle make the most reliable units around. PCP&P is unmatched in performance, sheer power but they cost too much and when you can buy units just as reliable and trustworthy, no need to spend 2 or 3 times as much. millions of people have Sparkles in their Dell computers, there is a reason for that. Dell chose the most dependable brand and also the one which was economically sound.

If I had an amazing amount of money, I would buy a PCP&P, but I dont, so I buy Sparkle or Fortron. These psus are just as reliable, if not more. Results speak for themselves.

The question is, would you spend an extra $100 on a PCP&P power supply when in doing so you would go from buying a 7800GT to a X800XL? I'd rather put that $100 on a 7800GT and get a power supply just as dependable and reliable.

If I was building an $2,500 rig with the greatest components then I will use an PCP&P 510W SLI unit. Or whatever unit they have at the moment. But for my $1,200 rig, or even a higher priced system, I think my dependable and powerful Sparkles/Fortrons will do.

Fortron/Sparkle the most reliable around? i dont think so, especially sparkle. arent they a company that is fairly well known for having less than top quality psu's? i havent really heard of fortron before, so i wont comment on it, but come on, sparkle?

you have your companies mixed up or you are ignorant.

Sparkles are used in Dell computers, they are the same as Fortron. they are very underrated and their power supplies are conservative. meaning their 250W power supply can handle a 7800GT easily, or even a 7800GTX since it can also handle 6800 Ultra which draws more power than a 7800GTX.

remember, dont judge a book by its cover. dont judge Sparkle by its name, look at the company. its essentially the same as Fortron. as for reliability, they are second to none. Dell users will tell you that

i meant no offense to sparkle, ive had one myself, and it wasnt a super power supply, but it got the job done just fine, no problems. maybe i did have my companies mixed up, but for some reason i thougth sparkle were cheap psu's, and i did not know that dell used them. does anybody else have any opinions on them?

well its a FSP power supply, meaning its a Fortron Source Power. FSP designs and designed some of the pc power and cooling power supplies.

And definitely in this case.

money aside...How can you not love them? They're the best PSU built, and nobody can really argue with that.

The PC P&C 510 is a great PSU, but way too expensive. I would much rather spend money on a Sparkle FSP550-60PLG and use the money for something else. Even then the Sparkle would be complete overkill for any system I would build. For me something like the Fortron AX500-A is the perfect solution.

Personaly I'm really happy w/ my Seasonic S12 600 watt PSU, and at only $130 delivered it was alot cheaper than a PCP&C unit and its also dead silent, but if I had the money to spare I prolly would have gone w/ the 510 SLI w/ a quiet fan but I just couldn't justify the price differency when I got a solid PSU arguabley the equal of the 510 SLI in most aspects. and w/ better effenicy and noise lvls.
