I've been wondering if my MGE brand 400w PSU (only 17amps on the 12v rail) will put out enough juice to run both my CPU and video card. Is it possible to use a 2nd PSU just to power the card? I didn't know if this would actually work (especially since there's no connection to tell it to turn on/shut off...)

Will this work, or will I have to get a new PSU if I have problems??

CPU: A64-M 3200+
Vid Card: X800 Pro -> X800 ViVo

You can....but it would be better to just get a single good one. You could set up a second one i guess to power the vc and the hd, fd, cd, etc by cutting off the 20 pin connector and shorting the green wire to a black wire. Or dont cut it and use a paper clip to jump it.

Yes, it will work. BUT, i would NOT trust a pos powersupply on those components. Since you are going to be overclocking as well there is no way you should even consider a cheap psu.
