PSU question, quiet!

hey,
i need a quiet psu for a 3 hard drive, conroe, x1900xt or equivalent system
sli/crossfire is not required, however it does have to be quiet!! fanless is not an option, because of the case design.

also, i would like something that exhausts air into the case, i know this is a strange request, however otherwise it will blow hot air AT me

I'm not sure too many PSUs (if any) exhaust air into the case...perhaps you can build some sorta of guide to send the exhaust up or down instead of straight back? How are you going to get any sort of airflow with no fans blowing out the back?

I've seen plastic diverters that can guide it up or down. I just bought a PCP&C silencer 470 that is quiet.

and yes use a plastic diverter thing. i've seen em before, not sure where they are sold😛 i guess u acn always use a pvc pipe and some hot glue😉

Yes the PC Power & Cooling Silencer Series are definately silent and top quality!!

I just put a Silencer 610 into my sisters case. Because she likes to surf the internet at night while her kids sleep.
Since I put the PSU into her case all you can hear is the video cards fan. 🙂

The 470 can be had for $99 and the 610 for $159.

All in the ball park of most other PSU`s.

PS-- it doesn`t matter who makes the Silencer Series. All that matters is that they are damn quiet!

I also think that one of the Seasonic designed PSU's (by whatever name) are a good silent PSU buy, but check out the Zalmans as well. Although not a rebadged Seasonic, they are rated REALLY well as far as abuse is concerned.

From what I can tell, it's got slightly bigger heatsinks and a slightly quieter fan control circuit than the FSP400-60GLN, which is a bargain at $44+shipping.

I guess that means just about everything they make is quiet, the reserator, their cases, their cpu fans, and their PSUs.

How do you figure?

They have a product in every catagory that is quiet.
Such as:
Liquid Cooling: Reserator
Cases: Passive cooled cases
CPU Cooling: Quite a few coolers that have low rpm fans
PSUs: Someone mentioned Zalman PSU's being quiet.
