PSU quality question

Mediocre FSP unit.

It isn't the same as the piece of garbage TR2 RX that Gabe Torres reviewed a year or two ago. After that review even Thermaltake knew they had to revise it. So the TR2 RX Bronze units. They're... better. They can do their rated wattage. But they're still very mediocre and there isn't much point to getting them.

Id never buy one....... but, I tend to stick with what has been proven over the years and what I have used previously and have experience with.

Stick with Seasonic, Corsair, Antec, XFX.

MIGHT be FSP, but everything I have says HEC built. Thermaltake has improved some of their lines, but I still wouldn't take the chance.

Seasonic
XFX
Corsair
Antec

even most of NZXT's HALE PSU's are top notch.

^ Agree, that's pretty much the top tier in PSUs.

But some other brands are also trustworthy for the most part. PC Power & Cooling, Cooler Master, Enermax to name a few. Even some OCZ units.

Kingwins high end PSU's are rated 8.5 or 9/10 for the most part by JonnyGuru.

(Lazer and Lazer Gold Series)

This coming from a traditionally Seasonic user.

What about their low end? -.-

Just because they have a few good units here and there doesn't make them a quality manufacturer.

Kingwin doesn't have a low end so much as they have older SKUs that they haven't discontinued yet. Their older stuff was pretty mediocre, but the Lazer Gold and Lazer Platinum series are among the best power supplies on the market today.

There are good Thermaltakes and mediocre ones. Avoid the budget ones (TR line). The good ones (Tough Power) are usually made by Channel Well and are excellent.
