I recently bought a thermaltake purepower 420 watt psu and it's been randomely restarting, my computer. I looked in motherboard monitor and apparently my 12v rail idles at 11.73 or 11.80 and itloads to even 11.6X. My initial thought was because I had 1.95 volts pumped into my cpu and 2.7 volts in my ram (does that get it's power from the 12v rail, or is the 12v rail strictly cpu?). I lowered my cpu to 2.2 ghrz and 1.75 volts (which should be fine) and again, during counter-strike I would get in the low 11.70's.
This PSU got excellent reviews on newegg except for one guy who is having the exact same problem and we are both not running a lot of stuff (1 optical drive and 1 hdd, a couple of fans, the works). I know thermaltake isn't the leader in the power suppply race but I know that it shouldn't be in the same league as my Turbolink 420 crap psu (also got a weak 12v rail).
So should I return this powersupply? Or is this the quality I should expect from this powersupply?
