two questions

1) which produces more noise? my 300W antec psu or the stock hsf on a barton 2500+? I'd like to upgrade both, but it'll have to be 1 at a time, so i'm trying to decide which to do first. it'd be nice to get rid of the noiser one first. not sure which psu i'm going to get, but looking at the slk900a hs with like a 90mm panaflo (or comparable choice)

2) just checking, but the atx form should be around for a while longer right? ie through at least another generation of cpus? i just got my barton a few months ago (upgrade from t-bird 1.2 that was 3 years old), but i'd feel bad spending ~$60 on a psu that i might not be able to use if i upgrade again

Well, it's easy to see what's noisier. Pull the side of the case off, and put your finger on the center (not the blades) of the fan and puch so it stops. Listen to the power supply for a second and let go of the CPU fan. Won't hurt anything.

Ditto for the power supply, but use an ink pen or paper clip. Stop it for a few seconds and listen to the CPU cooler. Then tell for yourself what's noisier. This isn't really a tough thing to do, and no way can people over the internet tell you what parts on your PC are noisy - first we can't hear them, second we don't have your ears and may care more, or less about something than you do.
