ok well i just upgraded from a generic 350 watt psu to a tagan 480 watt...

everything worked fine but my pc just shut off by itself and when i try to turn it on the psu makes a loud screeching noise for 1 second and turns off...

i re-wired the whole thing but it still makes the loud screeching noise but it doesn't shut off...

anyone know what i could be? somesort of interferance maybe?

Make sure it isn't your monitor or noise in speakers. The human ear can't reliably identify direction or source of sounds most of the time.

Oh.... I hate to even say this. My friends PSU did that before it exploded in a blue fireball and wiped out 1,800 worth of hardware. Hopefully this is NOT the case but you might test out your other PSU with your hardware since you knew it worked for sure

you better take the PSU out and RMA it, it happened to my friend before taking with it his mobo, cpu and video card.

Put in the old PSU and see if the computer works. If it does, then your new PSU is hosed-- RMA the sucker.

I know dude, I am fraid the sound he heard might have been the fans going into "superoverdrive" that is what my friends did before the "blue fireball incident" hosed his entire system. His head was down in the case when the fireball came out too. It was so funny but it cost him big bucks so it was sorta sad.
