Just got my new Antec EA650w. When looking inside the fan grill with a flashlight I notice big white gooey gobs that look like glue or something of that nature. There's about three big separate ones, each looks like a mini ice cream. :p

Can someone shed some light on what these gobs are and if its bad that they look all oversized and messy? Is this something I can fix without voiding the warranty and is it something I should send the PSU back over?

White silicone, used by the manufacturer to hold components to the circuit board or keep inductors from making audible noises or both - it's supposed to be there. They're pretty liberal with the application.

If it looks like rusty ooze that's coming from the tops of bulging capacitors, your power supply will need to be replaced.

Yeah its just the glue. I do wish they had been a little more careful with it but I doubt its going to be an issue. I just wanted to verify that it was indeed glue and that it being so messy wasn't going to hurt anything.

as said it hold the coils and other componets to stop the whine sound they can sometimes make.
