PSU guru's unite!

I upgraded my PSU to a 400W Antec but it seems to not work. When I plug it in and boot it up, the fans turn on and the works but no action from teh monitor. seems there is no connection between the cpu->monitor.

I'm upgrading my PSU because it seems my 300W PSU can't handle my 5950fxultra. Says the following when I boot up:

****The NVIVIA system Sentinel is reporting that the NVidia-powered graphics card is not recieving sufficient power.

To protect your hardware from potential damage or causing a potential system lockup, the graphics processor has lowered its performance to a level that allows continued safe operations****

I tried installing the 400W PSU on another comp and it works fine. The only difference is that the computer that I tested it on had a 12v connector (4pins) and my motherboard doesn't.

It seems no1 can help me in the video department, so I thought I would try here!

I really do appreciate you guys taking the time to read this,

By the way, the 5950fx ultra runs w/ my 300W PSU, but it runs really shady. It can barely run the demos set for the Geforce 4 mx 5400 or w/e :\ It runs the 5950 demos at like 2fps :\

When I run farcry, it's the buggiest thing you'll ever see. You can't see anything, the screen is all blue, runs at 2fps, you can rarely see any textures at all. It's really bad.

My counter-strike runs fine but once again it's really weird. When I get smoked, my fps drops from like 100fps to 15fps. It gets REALLLLLY bad fps under smokenades which is really abnormal =(

okok !

Really!? So what do I need to do? Get a new mobo?!

EDIT: Wait, the 4pin molex _ON_ the video card? I plugged a powercord thingy into the video card. Does it have to be a certain one? I just kind of picked a free one

Strange.... dose the video card work in other systems? And dose the upgraded system work with differant video cards?

ok here's what I did.

I put the 400W in anohter computer, and then i put the 5950 in the same comp. It booted up fine but it still came w/ the same error and ran the demos the same (both comps are same specs). So I know it's not my PSU.

Only thing I can think of is the 4pin Molex not working. I started another thread on asking how to clean it! If you know anything about replacing the molex/cleaning it. Please reply on the new thread or this one! Thanks!

So then it has to be the video card on some level. I doubt its the molex connector on the card since you shouldn't be able to use the card at all without a fucntioning connector. I would try to get a new card, it seems like you ruled out everything else.

best of luck
