PSU fried???

Bought a ton of parts to build my first PC a week ago and just got them in.

Connected all the cables and had the PC up and running with Vista 64x.

Moved the CPU from my work location to my PC desk and plugged everything in and nothing happens now.

I have the thermaltek tr-2 500w powersupply with the Abit IP35 Pro motherboard.

I checked the 24 pin connection and its in firmly. What would cause my computer to no longer get any power at all?

The yellow light still comes on on the back of the powersupply, but other than that, nothing in my computer is getting any power at all?

What could have caused this and whats the best and worst case scenario? I hope to god that my new CPU and Mobo etc isnt fried.
 
I don't think it's fried because you didn't mention any unusual fume coming from your pc. and would be best if you list your spec, that way, it'll help us easier to determine what the problem is.
 
 
I have checked the 3 power connections to the motherboard. The 20 pin and the 2 others and they are firmly seated. There is also no smell of anything burnt or anything, but Im getting absolute zero response from the PC now.
 
The problem is your PSU doesn't have enough power to support your hardware. You have a PSU that doesn't offer any PCI-e connectors and your video card needs 2x 6pin PCI-e power connectors. Its no surprise your not getting anything from it. Some times an under powered system will run for a while but the PSU can't take that kind of a strain. So your probably tripping the OCP so the PSU refuses to turn on. Now a good 500W PSU will be able to power your system but that one just isn't designed for the load your putting on it. Its an older model that came out before PCI-e was standard. How do you have it connected to the video card anyway?
 
That power supply has 1 of the PCI power cords for it. The power supply unit plugs right into the card. It is the 6 slot pin that is plugged into that card.
 
The 8800GTX has 2 6 pin connections on it and both need to be used. The PSU is not made to support a system running an 8800GTX.

Nothing is overclocked, everything is stock.

THe computer was running fine until I moved it and plugged it in. When I plugged it in, I get nothing whatsoever. The fans and lights and everything was working just fine, then within 5 minutes, nothing works anymore. Im very confused.

Update.

Just purchased a new power supply unit , the Ultra Xpro 750 watt unit. I still get no response whatsoever from the power supply. I guess that has eliminated that as a possibility. I dont have another CPU and mobo to test a system on. Whats the odds its the motherboard that is bad now?
 
Pull the board from the case ande try it stripped down. Nothing installed on the board but the CPU and fansink. Have board on non-conductive surface and tap the PWR-ON pins with something metal.
