PSU for GTX 580 SC SLI and i7-2600K OC

Hey guys, I'm looking for a good PSU that will give me quality performance where I wouldn't have to worry about whether or not my system will fry. I'm going to be running 2x GTX 580 SC Graphic Cards, an ASUS Maximus IV Extreme ROG Board, i7-2600k Processor Overclocked and several fans from the Raven RV02-E case. I'm also going to throw in 2 12" Cathode Lights along with an SSD and 2 HDs. Keyboard will have an extra USB dedicated for LED alone.

I was planning on going with an XFX Black Edition 850w, but I didn't want to risk the PSU failing on me and taking the entire system with it. My budget on a PSU is $200, I was looking at the Enermax Revolutions85+ 920w or the Corsair HX Series 1000w. I can get either of them for $200, but I'm having trouble choosing which one would be the better buy. I'm leaning towards Enermax because of the looks, design, and great reviews from Anandtech and other sites, but it doesn't have enough reviews on Newegg for me to make an informed decision on my own, where as the Corsair has over 510.

Please help me decide!

Edit: I should mentioned that I only plan to overclock my CPU. While my GPUs are Factory Overclocked, I don't plan on taking them any further. I put 16GB of memory in my system that while at 1600, from my understanding the P67 boards only read them as 1333 so I have to overclock them to reach 1600.

The 850W would be enough. Even if it wasn't enough...it isn't likely at all that would damage your components.

You would be good with a quality 650W power supply.

Edit: Oops, didn't notice the SLI, so ya 850W would be good.

What will the rig be used for? Strictly gaming? If so, you want to match the peak efficiency curve of the PSU to the average power drawl during gaming.

Jonnyguru.com is a great place for PSU reviews.

IIRC Gold standard PSUs need to be 90% efficient at 20% usage. So, if you are buying a 850w PSU 20% usage would 170w so in terms of a Gold rated PSU, you will start hitting Gold rated efficiency at 170w and above. This is simple if your concerns are for a gaming rig only. If this is a dual purpose rig and you are like me and appreciate the best in efficiency, ripple suppression, etc. then you will want a lower watt PSU and a 650 starts hitting 90% ~ 130w Most rigs idle around this spot. If you have alot of hard-drives in this machine you may be above 130w From my own experience I don't ever remember hitting above ??? 400 or 500 watts while playing Unreal Tournament III on Rig 2 in sig with two 5870s And while your PSU heating up is a concern most good quality PSUs will not power on their fans until a late or high % usage.

There have been some really good PSU reviews standing out in my mind as of recent. The Kingwin Laser Platinum 550w is a beast, but may not be enough for your system. The XFX Black edition PSUs are very nice, I've always liked Enermax and I have one for sale if you are interested (check sig), and last but not least Seasonic. Personally I am not afraid to spend a little extra for the things I want in a PSU

I think Enermax would be a better choice if you want to save a few $$ on your energy bill. Looking at the specs, it seems to be more efficient than that Corsair PSU.
