PSU for an Antec P180.

Since it's an Antec case, I went with an Antec PSU. However, I'd like to get the Cosair 620 since I hear so many good things about it, however, since the PSU spot on the Antec is down low, I'm a bit fearful that the cables on the Cosair might not reach to all I need.

Does anyone have experience with a Cosair PSU in the Antec P180?

No sense buying another expensive PSU if you don't need to. Over 90% of PCs can get by on about 250W from the PSU. If the info available from the Corsair pages doesn't include the cable lengths, then maybe you should look elsewhere where they have a clue about what a potential buyer might need to know like Silverstone or Enhance - rather than a place that just picked up some PSUs from Seasonic to fill out their line... Corsair has a clue about memory, other than that Phfthttt.... Not saying that their PSUs are bad, just that they don't have a clue about them.

Well my Seasonic S12 600 fit just fine and they've got just about the shortest cables in the business. I'm not going to say there was a lot of slack, but it worked. If you're getting a P182 and want to run the cables behind the mobo, you might want to get an extension for your 8pin connector.

The Corsair HX 620 comes with nice long cables that should reach anything on your motherboard installed in a P180, though the 4 pin power connector for your mobo in the upper left hand corner may hang right across your hsf. I bought a $2 extension cable for that 4 pin and routed it around the side of the case to tuck it away.

if your in doubt, just buy a extension cable.

End of issues...

And i second the corsair psu.

If you want GTX in SLI, get the 630. Single card solution get the 530,

I have the P180 and the Corsair HX-620, and the cables are long enough. See here.

Note that the 620 can also run 8800GTX in SLI, as seen here.

You might also want to look into an Seasonic M if you want cable modularity. I got the Corsair because it had a 20$ rebate at ZZF.

Can a 520 run an 8800GTX in non-sli just fine?

What's going into my machine:

MSI P6N SLI Platinum
BFG 768MB 8800GTX, 600Mhz
2 x 320Gig WD SE16 HD
Sual Serial Card
E6600
2GB Ram
DVD burner
Sound Card

620ex fits fine.

it will, however, not be long enough to route the 4pin cable anywhere but right over the vid card.

if you want it to look purty inside you need an extension, which i use.

I wouldn't discount the Corsair HX psu's just because they are memory makers. It's a quality rebadge of a Seasonic psu.

corsair power supplies are made by seasonic, the most reputable psu brand for performance and silence. Most ppl on normal forums won't know of this brand b/c they're a bit more xpensive .. and ppl don't need the silence. you can read all about them on silentpcreview

I will mention that my s12-380 wat was quieter than my corsair 520 though.

The Corsair 520 & 620W PSU's are VERY highly regarded in this forum, mainly due to the reasons cited earlier.

I replaced an Antec TP Blue 480W w/a Corsair 520W and haven't looked back. The cables fit fine. I think you'll run into trouble if any power connectors are by the I/O shield area, and then you can route them over cards, or as people have said, buy and extension.
