It's been quite a while since I've last put together a rig but I've been researching over the past few weeks and am aiming to go for a higher end gaming build. Here are the core components I'm planning to use:
Intel Core i7 965 EE
ATI Radeon 5870 (Asus)
6 GB Corsair Dominator DDR3 1600mhz
ASUS P6X58D Motherboard
Intel X25-M 160GB SSD
Now, as far as power supplies go, I'm pretty set on going with the Corsair HX series. I like the modularity and want to keep things clean. Initially, I was going to go with the HX-850, but after reading around it seems like the HX-750 and even the HX-650 might have enough juice to power these components. I will most likely be adding another 5870 and Crossfiring somewhere down the road, and probably adding at least one large-capacity hard disk for storage.
The price difference between the HX-850 and HX-650 is non-trivial, so I would take that savings if possible. Thoughts?
