It's probably enough, but the PCP&C 750W looks like a better deal for around the same price.

Don't forget the sweet orange color!;)
I'm willing to bet that the seasonic is quieter as well. Both are enough as far as power, but if you like the modular design, the seasonic is for you.

About the seasonic - Modular means its slightly less stable than a standard PSU of its caliber.

Is there any truth to this?

Nah. No reason to this. Kinda like how some people say that tube amps are 'better' than current...

I have TWO PSU in my case :

* Antec 550W = GPU
* OCZ 520W = mobo , hard drive , optical drive , fan

The PCP&C looks better to me because of the massive single 12V rail (60A). Fo dual video cards this is the better choice according to most gurus. Newer split rail PSU's have solved this for the most part but I'd still go for a PSU with a single 12V rail. No worries about one of the 12V lines getting too much power draw. Here is an ok review of it.

The Seasonic tested very well over at Jonnyguru's with hardly any ripple and good efficiency. Looks like it only has two 12V rails which, IMO, is a good thing.

The 600W Zippy also tested out very well but it doesn't have enough juice on the 12V rail for dual DX10 cards if rumor is correct.

Here is a thread over at XS that you might find useful.

The PCP&C Silencer is just a rebadged Seasonic PSU. I still think the M12 700 is overpriced though. I'd go with the Corsair 620W, it's basically a 620W version of the Seasonic M12 (both made by Seasonic), but it's cheaper.

looks like it

that looks like a recommendation of 450w with 30a on the 12v rail for the GTX . . . and the 2nd card will use another 200w . . .

so barely :p

I'm pretty sure FSP makes OZC PSU's now too, so it should be good.

THe OCZ unit is nice for the money but it has too much ripple on the 12V line at high loads. For those that won't be loading the PSU near it's max (i.e. 90% of the people who buy one) it's not a big deal but with two power-hungry cards and overclocking thrown into the mix, I'd say spend the extra money and get one of the top-tier PSUs.

Which PSU did you end up getting Gersson?

he got the seasonic .. .

looks like it will barely be enough

if the specs at PCworld are right, i'd get 800w for sli's GTXes :p
[or the OCZ plus the 550w 'booster' hot deal PS for $59, i think]

They added the option for 8800GTX!
with my PC @ 100% it would eat up 680w! So I'll be ok.
Quad 8800GTX is out of the question, however! lol!

I got this:
System Type: Single Processor
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E6700 2660 MHz Conroe
Overclocked: 3500 MHz, 1.55 V
CPU Utilization (TDP): 100% TDP

RAM: 2 Sticks DDR2 SDRAM
Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTX (wattage is not final)
Video Type: SLI

SATA HDD: 2 HDDs

DVD-RW/DVD+RW Drive: 2 Drives

Sound Blaster w/ Front Bay: Yes

USB: 2 Devices
Fan Controller: Yes

Fans
Regular: 5 Fans 120mm;

Motherboard, keyboard and mouse: Yes

PSU Utilization: 100 %

Total: 679 Watts

You'd have to load up the rail with dual fx-62's, quad SLi, 4gb RAM, and oc it like MAD to achieve this. JG's tests are "worst case scenario" type tests.

Well the wattage calculators generally exaggerate how much power you need but even so you're cutting it a little close. I guess if Crossfired X1900XT's will run on a 520W Powerstream than you should be fine with your 700W beast. Personally, I'd rather spend a little extra and have some wiggle room.

True, that's why I said for the large majority of users, it will be just fine.
