Hey all,
My old gateway (internet machine) is shutting down by itself after being on for a decent period of time. Seemed like an overheating problem so i opened the case and ran it. THen i noticed the the PSU fan was not turning at all. Could this be the problem? If so might a new PSU fan do the trick? Finally if that is the case where do i find a fan made for a PSU?Thanks

Yes it's very possibly wanting airflow for cooling so measure the Fan and replace it (most like 60-92mm). If you don't have one handy then you might want to opt for a new PSU if the cost isn't to much. We would have to know the Rigs specs for that eval.

We have three generations of Gateway systems at the office and some of them have the PSU fan run briefly at system startup, then switch to passive mode. More info about your system would help here :) In the meantime, have you done a full antivirus scan?

I'm not quite sure what the specs are ATM as its my gf's computer. I will try booting it up with the case open and see if the fan moves at all. If it doesnt move at all is that most likely the problem? Thanks
