Hi,

I am building a new system (Micro Atx) with the following config:

1. ASRock Z68 Pro3-M
2. i7 2600K
3. GeForce GTX 460 or Radeon 6870
4. 8 GB RAM DDR3 1333 (for now)
5. 64GB SSD + 500GB SATA
I need some information on the PSU and case.
I found a good case (Sentey) at

http://www.2cooltek.com/products/Sen...Fan-Black.html

Looks like I will have to either ask for a better power supply or buy my own since I think I need at least 500-550w whereas this comes with 450W.
Any opinions?

Thanks!!

It's highly recommended to buy your PSU separate from the case. IMO, none of the case manufacturers include a quality PSU in their builds. (the only exception might be NZXT...their PSU's are surprisingly well reviewed)

It's unlikely that your build will NEED more than about 400 watts, but I prefer to have a PSU that has quite a bit of extra power. 600 watts would be the biggest I'd recommend...and 500-550 should be more than enough.
I did a cheap-o test of my i5-760 build a while back using a Kill-a-Watt, and the MOST I was able to pull from the wall was ~350 watts.
ASUS P7P55D-E Pro
i5-760 @ 3.9
EVGA Superclocked GTX460 1Gb
8 Gb Corsair XMS RAM
250 Gb SATA
1 SATA DVD drive
1 PATA DVD drive
HAF 932 case

Under "normal operating conditions," my rig idles at <150 watts, and even with the older games that I play, I don't hit 250 watts from the wall.

If you want to buy case and PSU together look at Antec, there Earthwatts PSU's are actually very solid units.

EDIT, most included PSU are junk though.

I am looking at the Antec EarthWatts 500 W. If it fits the micro atx case, I would be fine.

Thanks!

For some reason, I always forget that you can get Antec cases with PSUs. I don't much care for the Antec cases...so maybe that's why. :p

yeah they are ok. Most people discard them because of high price but some come with solid PSU's so obviously they would cost a little more.

Hi all, thanks for your inputs,

I am still undecided between ASRock Pro-3M and the Gigabyte GA-Z68MX-UD2H-B3, which is about $45 more. Any opinions on that? I am more inclined towards the latter.

Apart from that, here's the final config now:

1. CPU: Intel i7-2600K
2. Mainboard: ASRock Pro-3M / Gigabyte GA-Z68MX-UD2H-B3
3. GPU: evga nvidia GeForce GTX 460 1GB. Superclocked.
4. RAM: 4GB x 2 (for now) - G.Skill
5. Power Supply: OCZ modular modxstream 700W pro.
6. Seagate 360GB SATA 3.0
7. Crucial SSD 64GB SATA 3.0
8. Hitachi/LG refurb slot internal DVD-RW.
9. In Win slim case - it can accommodate the power supply.

10. I found a cool LCD control panel - Lian-li 3.5in LCD Thermometer/Fan Controller Tr-3b..

Thanks!
