Hi all,

I'm looking for a reasonably cheap and reliable PSU to replace an 8-year-old (now dead) Antec TP430 that had been powering my parents' PC. Specs as follow:

AMD Phenom II B550 (One unlocked core -> Tri-core @ 3100MHz)
Gigabyte MA896GT-UD3H
2x2GB DDR1333
120GB Samsung 840 + 500GB Seagate 7200.12
Radeon HD5750
E-MU 0404

Someone had installed a replacement, generic brand PSU that always shuts off whenever the system is under load. It's noisy. It has too few molex connectors. It has to go.

I'm thinking of getting a cheap Antec or Corsair PSU as these brands have been great to me. Is there a specific model or brand that come highly recommended at this price point?

Thanks in advance.

I'd probably get the Corsair unit since it's just $20 AR and you rig doesn't consume much power.

Rosewill Fortress 450W will be $45 after rebate with free shipping later today (shellshocker special). It is 80Plus Platinum and has a 7 year warranty.

I would probably get the 520W. I don't really have a problem with the Corsair CX series PSUs, but a few of them have acted weird. I've bought many to use as cheap replacements, but some have buzzed as long as the power cord was plugged in, and I have encountered multiple instances of incompatible motherboards where other PSUs would power the motherboard and the Corsair CX PSU would power other motherboards, but they wouldn't work together. Oh yeah, and they're noisier.

But, when they work, they work.
