PSU and UPS Problem

I own an Tripp Lite SU1500XL UPS that will sound off a long continuous beep when I try to turn on my computer (post screen). It is the only thing plugged in to the UPS. I have a PC Power and Cooling 1KW-SR, which is using less than 20% of its capacity fully loaded (at best). The front of the tripp lite reports the computer is only using 25% of the maximum capcacity.

I have unplugged the computer and tried other devices from around the house, including a large fan and momentarally, a vacuum cleaner. Both of these devices draw more power than my desktop and do not cause the trip lite to sound off.

What is the problem here? Is my PSU shot or internallly shorted? Why would the UPS only beep when the PC is blugged in? Note, The USB cord is not connected in any of these situations.

Any help or advice would be appreciated.

How old is the UPS? It could be that the circuitry is somehow failing or the batteries don't have enough charge to deal with the initial power on.

It's was purchase 10-8-2007, exactly 4 years ago.

The Vacuum and will load the thing up to 100% and no problem, the fan and large CRT dont cause this either. Something with the PSU is suddenly causing it to act this way. Also, i haven't used my desktop in 2 months (due to a problem) and it was fine then. The Desktop remained plugged in to the UPS and the UPS remained attached to a power source the entire time

None of the lights on the front that indicate a battery change are lit and the batteries were completely changed about 18 months ago.
 
I went to plug in the watts up pro and figure out power use for the fan, 116 watts....

When I plugged in the computer in to the watts up pro, i heard the beep. It made the same exact tone I am used to hearing from the tripp lite during power outages. Appearantly my EVGA graphics card makes the same exact beeping tone at the same very loud volume level as the UPS would. Since the two sit side by side, the GPU's disconnected power alert sounded like it was the tripp lite making that noise i had heard for the 1000th time.

The problem was, I had unplugged the graphics card power to remove the hard drive cage. Thus causing the GPU to shreeeeeeeeeeeeeek as a warning!

I don't see that you've addressed this yet...does the computer work when you plug it directly into the wall socket instead of the UPS?

I plugged it in to the Watts up pro (watt meter) and plugged it in to the wall, bypassing the UPS. Its the GPU making the same exact tone at the same volume as the UPS. All is well.
