Guys i had the PSU die in my home server. Its a relatively old motherboard but works just fine for the home server (AMD 3800 X2). I ordered a PSU and i'm ready to replace it and noticed the main MB connector has changed. My MB has a 20-pin connector and my new PSU has a 24-pin connector. Is there some time of cable you can get to convert from 24-pin to a 20-pin connector or is there anything else i can do?

thanks,
Ncage

You might not even need the adapter. Many of the 24 pin connectors are actually 20+4 pin adapters and the extra 4 pins can snap off and be tucked away.

Yes most modern PSU's have this 20 +4pin power connnector. Some don't and you'll have to get an 24 to 20 pin converter cable like this:

Even for power supplies with a connector that doesn't separate, it is sometimes possible to just plug the connector into the motherboard and leave the additional 4 pins hanging off the end. Unless the motherboard has something next to the connector that gets in the way.
