Hey all,

I'm looking for a 'quick' method to compact pst files over the network. Currently, the pst files are stored in the Z:\ drive(File server). After manually achiving off the existing pst files, i need to perform 'compact' to lower the file size.

Just wondering if there are freeware tools, that perform this specific task on the server. For now, i'm doing this task on the client machine.

Thank you in advance!

ps-btw i'm not running exchange server.

Don't bother... take note of the sizes before archiving and then go back and recheck a week later. Outlook will compact them itself automatically while it's open. I used to always compact them myself, but like you I found that it took FOREVER! Now I just reduce their size and let Outlook do it's thing during the workday.

I used to think so too, but you know. it's VERY handy to have all your mail, address books, calendar...etc in one file that you can simply more and link to. I actually prefer it because (here at work) I've got plenty of people who move around and it makes my job pretty easy.
