PSPs: Does anyone care?

I've been trying to sell my PSP for almost a year now and I've yet to have a single bite anywhere. Here, Hardforums, Craigslist, nada - is it even a viable platform anymore? Granted, I have the 1000 model but still, it's like the sad, lonely, crazy uncle of portable gaming.

In Japan, the PSP is actually selling as much as the DS and Wii. It's been at the top of the charts the last couple of weeks. Though, they actually split the DS up in all of its incarnations (DS Lite, DSi, DS LL) for Japanese hardware sales.

Every so often I think about buying a PSP and DS, but:
- I don't have a long commute so I'd be playing at home using time I could be playing on a real console
- I already have piles of unplayed games for my PC, PS2, PS3 and 360
- I don't like the bobblehead look of characters in most DS and some PSP games

I have a DS (there are four in my house, actually 😱) but this is exactly why I rarely play it and why I have never purchased a PSP.

i traded my hacked DS (which got absolutely no play after the initial hype) for a hacked PSP when hot shots golf 2 came out for it, played it for a couple weeks, then never played it again.

This.

Oh, except I have one. Traded my PS2 for it before I got a PS3.

I still enjoy my PSP very much. I haven't played many PSP games though. Only a few. Although, I'm currently playing CC:FF and its a great game (largely because of the story....i'm a sucker for nostalgia of any form). But the big use? Emulators...I definitely play a lot of SNES games, and the games look so nice at 1:1 display.

I LOVE my PSP (2000), however I don't play very many games on it. I mainly use it for listening to music, watching movies and watching TV on it.

Hacked my PSP a long time ago and still ran out of interest. Sold it and haven't regretted it. The screen on the old ones was pretty blurry, so movies didn't look very good. Also had fairly poor battery life so long trips away from power were out. It had very few games on it that I cared for, which has improved but not by much. Pretty much a total failure as far as I'm concerned.

The PSP is a joke. So much potential that was woefully squandered by Sony. :\

This. Sony went SKU happy with it but never developed the software side. Portables seem to attract a lot of low quality games. There's no reason why that has to be the case. That is if you put more money into their development.

I bought a PSP when it first came out, and it was fantastic. The graphics were spectacular for a handheld device and that screen was so huge. Then the newness wore off, and it just became stale. The problem was really the games. The games weren't being developed for a portable in mind, they were stripped down PS2 games.

And then, I was there when all the homebrew started (anyone remember swapping memory sticks to play homebrew?), and that piqued my interest for a while, but even that lost its luster.

I've been toying with the idea of picking up a cheap PSP to play MGS Peacewalker, but I don't think I am. MGS used to be my favorite game series... now I just can't get excited for it.

you know now that i think about it, i should play god of war on PSP before gow3 comes out. i've played part 1 and 2 on ps3 already but not the PSP one.

i have a psp fatty that i like, however, since I bought my iphone, i rarely play games on the psp. Its been hacked since day 1 and still not used much anymore.

Iphone games like RISK, monopoly, and pretty much anything else out there are more fun that many psp games, even the supernes ones.

I like mine.....I use it and my DS more then my PS3.

I can use it on the way to/from work, and when I'm home watching TV. Of course, I never had a PS1 or PS2, and like RPG's, so having a DS and PSP means I can play the DQ and FF series for the first time, so YMMV.

I feel like the need for portable gaming systems has mostly disappeared with phones and mp3 players becoming more multi functional.

Plus, the DS has better games for the form factor.

i take my psp when i have to take an occasional business trip. gives me something to do in the hotel. other than that, not much use for it.
