Arent those the ones that are really hard to homebrew? Can you do anything to it or does it have to be a certain version?

Could someone PM me a good PSP homebrew site?

If you're interested in the older firmware, check the product ID, certain letters correspond to certain firmwares (I think you want up to K or L which is 2.71 and 2.80 respectively)

The newest custom firmware 3.02 OE-B lets you play ANY playstation game on your psp. You can convert your (legally purchased and owned) ps1 game into an image file and play it on your psp now. However, you do need a downgradeable psp first. Anything below 2.80 can be downgraded to 1.50 and then flashed with 3.02 OE-B.

It's awesome. I've been playing FFVII on my PSP for the past few days (full-speed). 😀

By the way, for anyone with a TA-082 motherboard and <=fw2.71, you can downgrade to 1.5 and upgrade to 3.02OE-A now (and then apply the update to OE-B of course). 😀

Also, fw2.80 systems (non-TA-082) can be downgraded now too.

Indeed, can't seem to put down my PSP ever since 3.02OE-B arrived.

question remains:
can a PSP, after downgraded to 1.5 and upgraded to 3.02OE-B, run homebrew? Can I use emulators to play SNES and GBA games, as well as the PS1 games?

Yes.

3.02OE is a hybrid 1.5/3.02 firmware, so you can run homebrew under either kernel.

sweet.

wanna direct me to the right places since downgrading PSPs that have the TA-082 board is a relatively new thing and don't wanna brick my brand new PSP. 🙂

Only works with <=FW2.71 (if you have <, you'd upgrade to 2.71 first and then use the downgrader).

yea... 3.02 OE-B is what I have on my psp. I'm able to use remote play on my ps3, play all psp games, play homebrew, and have all the other features of the latest firmware. It really is the best firmware out there. Plus if for whatever reason you want to go back to 1.5, you just boot into recovery mode and flash 1.5 firmware. I still need to check out the playstation emulator.

emulation is fun 🙂
So you were able to downgrade it, etc. okay?

yep, running 3.02 OE-B perfectly fine and got SNES on there at the moment. sadly, Super Mario Kart and Star Fox run slow, with Star Fox snailing it up. tried many settings for Super Mario Kart and couldn't get it to run faster than roughly 33fps during gameplay, which for some reason makes it feel very slow. no sound emulation allows it to run fine, but i love the music in that game. 🙂

only thing that I haven't got to work yet is the wifi I got set up in my house. first off, its WiFi G (package only says Wifi B, and no G next to it, so no clue if it can even work...), and I made a WPA key that is 63 characters long, all random letters too.
typing it in once was a bitch (at least with the PS3 i used a keyboard to make it that much easier), and since it didn't work (and i am 99% positive characters were right, it spit out something weird.. like you have to use only alphanumeric characters, of which i used, so very confused i am), I am hesitant to try it again.

Just a little bump and a question here.

What is the situation with the memory? I thought there was a way to use SD cards, but I cant seem to find it anymore?

Are there any mass storage situations, like a mini HDD?

there's a Datel 4gb hdd, but i've heard homebrew doesn't work with it.
i've heard using any USB hard drive works, but again, not sure about on the homebrew side. a lot of people use them for music and whatnot.

The B/G thing shouldn't be a problem, unless you have your router in G-only mode (never seen that enabled by default).

I'm not sure why WPA would be giving you problems. Just keep in mind that only apps running under the 3.02 kernel (the browser is one) can make use of WPA enabled profiles. 1.5 apps cannot as the 1.5 firmware doesn't have support for WPA.

I've stuck with WEP as there are a bunch of network enabled apps I use on my PSP which haven't been modified to run under 3.02 yet.

IIRC, there are adapters which allow you to use CF cards, etc. I'd bring up a link on liksang, but since it's dead... 🙁

The Sandisk 4GB Po Duo sticks are going for ~$100 these days, which isn't too bad.

I recommend Ridge Racer, Wipe Out, Lumines, and Hot Shots Golf. These are my favorites. I havent bought a new game for it in over a year so I cant say much more on the others that are out. I can tell you ridge race and wipe out are pure graphical bliss IMO 😀

Nope. 🙁

Just don't "upgrade" anymore. Sooner or later a downgrader will be released for >2.8.

Yeah figured as much. Thanks anyway. Stupid thing started to upgrade as soon as I got it to work with my WiFi heh.
