I'm definitely not buying a DS, unless a must-have games gets released on the system.

if there's a new final fantasy for PSP or a couple decent RPG's, I'd buy it. price isn't a major concern, I just don't want to buy a system that's not going to have any games for me to play.

My guess is the PSP will have a lot of PS1/PS2 ports; therefore, if you have a PS2, you'd have to ask yourself whether or not you want to buy a game for a tiny screen or for your TV, for probably the same cost.

The DS allows for new features and new interactivity IMO.

Rumors of piss-poor battery life have totally turned me off to the PSP. Hopefully run-time will be better than what I've been reading.

I sent my original PS2 in twice for repair, traded it in for a PSTwo, the first one was DOA. The PSP looks like a rather expensive purchase.

<-- has a GB (yes, the big old one), GBA, GBA SP, and NGPC.

Serious? I remember hearing figures between 250-300....

If Sony manages to keep it at 180, then I definitely want one :D

Yea I need to see some solid facts there. The DS launch titles aren't too amazing and the lack of an analog stick is pretty lame, so I want to at least look at the PSP's software lineup.

Wonder when the PSP is coming out in the US?

From the link:

"There's an analog disc located at the bottom of the d-pad, but it feels quite a bit different from the sticks featured on the PS2's Dual Shock controller and might take some getting used to. Instead of tilting, the analog stick slides in whatever direction you push it. The surface of the analog button is a bit rough, so that it won't slip while you're using it."

It looks like a mini speaker to me but, they claim that is it.

I say the DS and the PSP will enjoy almost-marginal success... I don't see either being handheld powerhouses in the marketplace. Between the two, I think the PSP will sell better since Sony already has a huge share of the market and is better at advertising its systems.

On the one hand, Sony is equipping it with a fairly massive 1800mAh battery(versus 600mAh for the GBA SP and 850mAh for the DS), but on the flip side it has that relitively huge and bright LCD, UMD disc drive, and higher powered electronics than the DS, so it's still going to suck down power like a mad-man. I personally would expect it to be less than the DS, but with such a massive battery, I'm not sure just how much less it will be. In any case, of Sony does win this battle, a large part of it is going to come from their taking a massive loss on the unit; between the battery and everything else, it's going to cost far more than the $200 they want to sell it for.

tf?!

Unless I am not aware of any control system for the Dell and other PDA's you can't play games comparable to the PSP or DS.

Man WHY did not pre-oder one?! My only reason was the games were out weren't quite my cop of tea. And the fact that my parents are going over to Bei Jin over xmas so they may get me one :p

Well now when I can order one I'll order one and see how it is.

IT WILL PLAY BACK MPEG-4 from the MS Pro Duo. I already have a 512mb one :D and it can play games from there but not sure how it will work out yet. Developers said something about that...

I messed around with the DS in a store. It felt like a cheap, flimsy, piece of junk with a very hard to see screen.

Am I missing something that makes this thing worthwhile?
