PSP emulators

So I've been looking to buy a Sega Nomad on Ebay, the Nomad is basically a portable Sega Genesis, it even takes Genesis catridges. Since I have quite a large library of old Genesis games I figured I'd pick up a Nomad on Ebay, but it looks like they are going for upwards of $100... too much money for a portable 16bit system for me.

So, I figured instead of dropping $100+ on a Nomad to play the 40 or so Genesis games I have, it would make more sense to get a PSP and use an emulator. Then I also get the modern PSP abilities. So, my question is for those of you who have a PSP, how are the emulators? How well do they work? Just looking for some feedback on if this is a route worth going to play some classic games. Thanks!

Never tried the Sega ones, but the SNES one I used was working very well and that was a good 2 years ago.

Kind of funny you of all people suggesting someone else for a ban.

I looked at the rules sticky at the top of the Console Gaming forum, I didn't see anything saying I couldn't make this type of post... I aplogize if this is against the rules here. I'll just look around elsewhere for info on this, and let this thread die.

Yeah, emulation talk is a slippery slope. They'll probably allow the post because its not really specific, but as soon as you start talking about where to get games and stuff like that, that's when bans and locks happen.

That being said, one of the things thats always interested me about a PSP was the fact you could do some neat stuff with it like this... things that are outside the scope of just a game system. Too bad I can't bring myself to spend $200 on a handheld because I just never play my DS.

Sounds like Fair Use to me.

Do you have any idea what Fair Use actually encompasses, or are you just talking out your ass? I think a lot of people throw around the Fair Use term for anything just so they can justify downloading roms.

One only has to click on the Street Fighter link in your sig to see what a tool you are.

oh who cares, I have a laptop I probably couldn't run the mame version. It's all good. the snes version is a great arcade port. plus it's TURBO not the original.

lets go at it. I don't own a 360.

someone TRY to take my title, just TRY.

MAME is an emulator, right? Based on your reply in that thread to what purbeast0 said it looks like if your PC would run MAME well enough you'd use it. It's ok there, but somehow you think you are standing on some moral high ground above me in this thread. But, I wouldn't expect someone who writes at a 2nd grade level or isn't able to keep his own domain name to clearly think back to 3 days ago, when you were posting about playing Street Fighter 2 over MAME online.

Can you not read the part I said I COULDN'T run the MAME version? I run the snes version which I own BOTH the console and game of this version (3 copies of SF2 in fact.)

I never practically started a thread asking people where I can steal software I clearly don't have and throw in a few...

"I wanna play my genesis games, which I own.. on my psp because I'm too cheap to buy a Nomad... did I mention I own 40+ genesis game? Because if I didn't, I do... That's right, 40, no make it a VAST number of games... That's like 200! Please don't lock my thread, I'm trying to be as legit as possible here... Why isn't anyone helping me?!!? Owell, i'll look on some torrent forums or porno forums for this highly classified, clearly acceptable topic information."

yes I am on a MUCH higher ground than you. I own ALL my games and music/software and only use SNES emu to run NETPLAY. Whether others own SF2 isn't my problem. Don't use me as a scapegoat for justifying your illegal activities.

Oh yeah, thanks for keeping tabs on my 2 year old threads. There are two types of casiotech fanboys out there, the ones who subscribe to my newsletter and the ones who slur me in threads then PM me asking sexual favors. You probably fall in the latter camp.

So it's ok for you to play a SNES game on an emulator if you want, because you own the console and the game, but I can't do the same even though I own a Genesis as well as the software? Here's a pic of my Genesis console, a few games, and other random stuff.

I didn't start a thread asking where I can steal anything, I asked how well emulators work on the PSP. I never said I want to play games I don't have, I asked how well emulators work on the PSP. I never said I have 200 games, or need a torrent or a porn site to download anything, I asked how well emulators work on the PSP. Are you starting to grasp what I asked?

Let's look at what I've been bidding on lately.

Sega Nomad and games.

Sega Nomad again.

And I'm bidding on another now, hoping that it doesn't go as high as some I've been seeing go.

Why would I be bidding $60+ on these systems if I didn't have Genesis games? Because I want to play the bundled Taz or Wheel of Fortune game with the first Nomad? Even you have to be able to start and piece this puzzle together... that I DO HAVE GENESIS GAMES.

So, you crap my legit thread and put words in my mouth I never said because you assume I'm trying to steal something. Yet, while I can't remember the last time I used an emulator to play anything (I'm kind of out of the loop on them, hence my OP) you use an emulator to play SF2 (a game I will assume you do own, you do seem like such a stand up guy afterall) with people who may or may not own the game, that's 'not your problem' yet you make an opportunity by twisting what I asked in the OP to make that your problem.

No problem on bringing up past threads, ownage like that is timeless. The only one who's been slurred here so far is me. You've twisted what I've said, then tried to flame me when you're the one who's using an emulator/rom. Brilliant. Also, don't get your hopes up in regards to the PM, sorry to disappoint.

Genesis emulation on PSP is hit or miss. Some games work well. Many don't. SNES seems to work better.

I have the Nomad and even have the battery pack. Battery life is terrible so I use it mainly with the a/c adapter. Still regularly play Madden '93 championship edition and NHL '94.

Thanks for the replies, I figured battery life would be terrible. Mainly I wanted a portable Genesis so I can sit on the couch and play some games. Chances are I'll never be far from an outlet with it. I remember with my Game Gear how terrible battery life was, I assumed the Nomad could only be worse.

The Atari Lynx, worse battery life ever.

I honestly do not think you have any legal grounds to stand on. You don't 'own' any such software, you have a license to use it in a specific way that DOES NOT include emulation for netplay.

I remember owning a Nomad back in the day... you could even hook it up to your TV so it was more like a Genesis :Q! I think I sold it to buy the N64 or somethin' like that.
