PSP Downgrade question?

I have a psp with a 3.4 FW. My plan is to upgrade to the 3.5 and then downgrade to 1.5 and put Dark_Alex's 3.4OE on it. My question is ... if for some reason in the future, I want to go back to Sony's Official FW .. is it just a simple download and flash or is it once I go custom FW I can never go back to offiical FW's? Basically, can I switch back and forth between the two?

For example:
If in the future a game requires say .. 3.5 FW to run, can I flash to 3.5 from Dark_ALex's to play that game, then flash back to DA's to run homebrew?

If you'd like to go back to Sony's Official FW from 3.40OE-A, you'll have to first uninstall the custom firmware and go back to the official 1.50, then upgrade to 3.5 FW.

Notice that the 3.50 downgrader alters the idstorage keys, which means there could be potential problems while going back to official firmware if the upgrader checks for corrupted keys. You might want to take a note of which downgrader you are going to use, or apply a fix on the idstorage keys.

You should be able to go back to the original firmware if you'd like.

The only reason I think you'd want to, though, is to play games that require the latest firmware...which could outweigh having it, as I think Dark Alex said he's not doing any more custom firmwares...

yeah, you are right .. future games will require 3.51 not 3.5.

After doing some more reading, it looks like once you do downgrade, ALL you can use is homebrew, is this a correct assumption? Can anyone speak about this from experience? I just picked up FF1 for PSP, if I get a custom FW on it, would I no longer be able to play this?

Nope, custom FW can do homebrew and everything with its corresponding official FW. You lose nearly nothing from the official FW except for some useless functions such as LocationFree Player. As long as the UMD game that you brought has an equal or lower firmware requirement with your PSP, you'll be able to play it.
