PS3 2.50 available now

Yup, I already have it downloading. 🙂

very brave 🙂 I may wait a couple of days.

I downloaded and installed that last update that killed a few machines. Mine had no problem. I doubt I'll have a problem with this one. We'll see in a bit. It's finishing up right now.

Edit: It's installed and running great. Yay!

Just unpacked my new PS3 80GB core. Downloading the 2.50 fw right now. Man, this PS3 is totally silence compared to the MGS4 PS3 I had. Just to be on the safe side, I'm using wired networking this time.

There was something wrong with your last PS3?

Alright, done w/ the 2.50 firmware installation, everything's cool. Hmmm... I see the power saving settings, but the options are really thin. You only get 4 different time options for the PS3, and just on and off for the controller. It's cool though, still a nice touch.

And woot woot on being able to redownload the games I bought on PSN w/ my old PS3 using the same PSN account for free!

Network broke. Was using the wireless, changed the setting a few times and the system froze up. Sent it in for service, bought a new one.

i'll download this on my launch 60gb after work. ::fingers crossed::

Wait...PS3 finally gets Flash9 and Flash10 gets released today...riiiiight

* Power Save Settings ? You can now set your PS3 and wireless controllers to turn off automatically after set periods of inactivity. Go to Settings then Power Save Settings to turn on these features.

THEY LISTENED TO ME! Take THAT randay 😛

will there ever be better divx/media support for the ps3?

I've got a bunch of movies that I burned a few years back and I'm tired of getting "media not supported"

Matroska support would be nice too..

Just wanna say the new power saving mode for the controllers is epic win. I'm d/ling some big ass PSN games right now (Burnout Paradise and Wipeout HD), the screen dims after 5-10 min and the controller powers down. Awesome!

Would tversity run hd content to the ps3 with full quality? I have an xbox with xbmc but it can't handle blu ray rips..would I be able to stream it but still maintain the quality?

Hmmm I've never tried BR rips. Mainly just xvid videos. Maybe somebody w/ more knowledge in this subject can chip in.

gonna test it out now installed it and increased the max video resolution past the rips gonna see if it works or if my comp is too slow to transcode it

Anyone having trouble with their PSP 5.0 and logging into the PSN?

I have tried numerous times to login but it keeps saying my email ID and password are incorrect, yet I can log on through the web as well as my PS3.

So it looks way better than a normal divx or xvid file but not the full quality of the rip but I'm happy with it for now at least till the ps3 can get some native playback..thanks for the program

It could be PSN maintenance according to a few discussion threads I read on PSN forums. Error 80023017 pops up when you try to login to PSN Store.

BRrips work in TVersity. They are however, transcoded in real time and you dont get the subtitle track and it its DTS you get stereo instead. If you dont have a 5.1 setup you probably wont notice. I usually use mkv2vob to convert the files, then stream and everything works fine.

when you convert it does it stream normally? or does it still go through tversity but not transcode in real time?

We do have a 5.1 setup so if I was to do that conversion would that DTS go through?

When you convert the file to vob or m2t it streams fine, and no transcoding via tversity. You can then copy it locally, play it from a disc, or play it via tversity. When your mkv has DTS is needs to be converted, as you can't play DTS unless its on a disc. Programs like mkv2vob make sure the h.264 is in one of the supported profiles, and converts DTS to AC3. Most files I've tried didn't need the video transcoded, only the audio. So its like 20 min at most. If you dont convert, tversity transcodes it on the fly to MPEG-2 and Stereo. The only downside to using mkv2vob is that the files are slightly bigger by like 100MB, which means it most likely cant be burned to a SL DVD.

Just updated my PS3 to 2.50. The PS3 is slowly gaining ground. I still like the 360's features the best.

What's up with "Life with PlayStation". What a piece of garbage; a waste. When are the consoles going to stop mimicking each other? This has Wii written all over it. Minus the background folding, it's an exact duplicate of the Wii's news and weather channels. Weak. It's as useless as the Wii's channels, too.

My wife bought me one of the new PSP 3000s on the 14th and gave it to me on my birthday (15th). I played around with it for a little and updated to the 5.0 firmware so I really haven't experienced any of the enhancements like some users may have.

Solid system; I really like it. Only have Ratchet and Clank and VC Stories. Looking forward to some of the newer titles.
