I continue to write complaints to kbkids.com for their inflated prices on the PS2's. Their canned response(s) is that due to increased demand they feel an increased price is fair.

It's not what I call fair, especially since the systems are increasingly available at a local retail store.

$349 is cheap??? I wanted a PS2, and I was lucky enough to get one at a local Toys R US for $299. Refused to pay a penny more.

smart people will go to bestbuy or toyrus to buy a ps2 for the real retail price - 299.
they usually have it in stock for a day when they restock.
it's definitely worth every penny.
the first patch of games doesn't even explore 10% of ps2's capability.
second patch is rolling out and it's certainly much better, and it can only get even better.

as for xbox, it's already getting some bad reviews about it's bulky looking.
you better not have much faith for xbox to beat ps2 since it's ms product, usually they suck and only bill's way to make more money.
watch out for those upgrade and service pack required for xbox, lol...

PS2 is an overhyped piece.

Even now, in Q1 2001, when all the &quot;Good&quot; hyped games are supposed to come out - i.e. Bouncer - they are major disappointments. PS2 wasn't worth my $299 last year and it's still not worth half that even now. I swallowed my pride as a Sony loyalist and moved to the Sega camp.. and I am still in awe over how many people are being suckered into buying the INFERIOR PS2 over the Dreamcast ($99 now, remember...??)

Why pay MORE than retail for this system when you can get a dreamcast, tons of peripherals, and games for the same? Durh!

for you guys saying xbox and game cube, just shut up and let people get the system they want.. every system is hyped and every one is crap with 1st gen games. i for one am gonna get the xbox AND The game cube and i own the ps2 and a dreamcast, im sure there will be great games for every system.

Good point MrCide! I thought about buying the PS2 because of the talk that Sega was gonna start releasing their games on that platform(Sega racing games! EA sports!). But $349 is a lotta dough, especially when you know it will be at $199 by summer....... It seems that everyone here is more concerned with saying their &quot;system&quot; is better than the next... Personally, I would never admit to owning a Proscan television... but hey, to each his own... But if you have an extra $349 laying around, why the hell not..... you can't take it with you....

I am looking to buy a PS2 for my kids and saw the kbkids deal bundling and guess what? I told them to stick it in their blackhole and told my kids to wait when the box is available at retail stores. There is nothing that important to buy over-inflated price for any game system esp. at a store having suffix kid and ripping off kids. If my kids can wait for few months then they can wait few more months. It's not an education so what's a big deal?

If you're patient enough check playstation.com regularly. I got mine for $299 + $6.49 shipping. Now that's the price everyone is supposed to pay for the PS2!

Not sure about the xbox, but Mario makes me want to buy the Gamecube!

Hey that's great your getting your money's worth. If you can justify spending 300 for the system, 50 for madden, 35 for and extra controller, and 30 for a memory card.

So if you think it's worth $415 to play one game (madden 2001) that's great, I said i didn't think it was. Thats called an opinion mrCide.

Let's face it Sony was extremely cocky after PSone and made a lot of stupid mistakes on PS2. Microsoft doesn't have the name recognition of Playstation so they know they can't afford to make as many mistakes as Sony. But hey if broadband internet gaming and an 8 gig harddrive doesn't sound better to you then what do I care.

When the Xbox comes out if it bombs feel free to throw it back in my face.
