PSA: Zelda Four Swords free download available now

I don't have either handheld, but I might some day. Does Nintendo have accounts like Steam or iTunes where anything you buy can be redownloaded later? So can I "buy" the Zelda game now and just download it if I ever get a 3DS?
 
never played Four Swords prior to last night. always thought it was a rehash of LttP. its a totally different game. had a blast playing single player, just wish they'd let u save more often. worth the download.

I don't think you can create an account that can buy 3DS games except using a 3DS. I think that account is also tied to that 3DS.
