oh and dont forget that

Yield on a freeway onramp DOES NOT mean you have the right-a-way to bulldog your way into traffic. YOU MUST YIELD!!!:|

You're not running a red light if you're making a legal right turn . Also, how would you even be affected if there's no traffic? You're kind of supposed to treat the right turn on red idea like a yield sign, where if you'll obstruct traffic, you don't go. The way it sounds, you dislike people who abuse right turn on red 😛.

You are required (at least in NJ, and I assume pretty much everywhere else) to come to a complete stop before turning on a red light.

However it doesn't bother me when people don't, as long as they don't turn out in front of me. People seem to treat red lights like they should go whenever there's a big enough break in traffic for them to fit. That's wrong. If I have the green, and I have to slow down - even just take my foot off the gas - because you turned on red, you shouldn't have turned on red.

I hate the idiots who squander their onramp by going 35 mph. The onramp is there to give you room to get up to highway speed. You can't merge until you're going the same speed as the cars around you! Even worse is when they hit the end of the ramp at 35 mph without a big enough gap to merge, so they just stop!

If I'm merging behind you, and I'm able to merge AND pass you before the end of the ramp in my crappy little Civic, you're doing something wrong.

This thread is so well timed, literally 2 hours ago i nearly rear ended someone because they came to a complete stop at a yield sign when there was no traffic, if fact our merge was protected by a light roughly 100 feet before the intersection of the road i was merging onto.

I hope you know you will get a ticket for not stopping at a red light before turning. There are actually red light cameras that monitor this.

Untrue. You're supposed to come to a stop, and THEN turn right on red after looking for traffic. If it's a very open intersection you can get away with a rolling stop, but I'd say that most intersections in a modern city require you to go pretty slowly in order to see down the cross-street before entering the intersection. If you treat them like a yield sign, you won't see the cross-traffic before you're already halfway through your turn.

Now, around where I work there is a highway off-ramp that merges with a road on a curve in such a way that the cars coming off the highway continue going straight the whole way. They have the yield sign, but they usually ignore it and try to slip in between the cars coming off the curve. I've nearly been hit by these people several times.

Also, Stop Signs = Yield Signs.

Edit: This is a joke you fscking morons.

You generally have to hover somewhere between "Freight Train" and "Nuclear Holocaust" around here. 😛

lol @ pic

I almost rear-ended some dipsh1t in a land rover or something because he came to a complete stop at a yield for a freeway exit with ZERO traffic - thankfully, my truck has good brakes.

edit: typoed

Red light cameras don't point at the right turn lane. They point at the main lanes so you don't really run a red. I know because if I made an illegal right, the camera could never snap a photo of me. Even if it did, the front would be a bad shot, and there's no way the rear camera can get me because its designed to get you when you're in the middle of the street, not at the right corner. Moreover, lots of cars don't have front license plates, so that doesn't really work.

This is one of those examples. People come to a complete stop at these things thinking it's the right thing to do, but if someone is coming up from behind who is following the actual rules, a rear-ending is bound to happen.

I think the actual rules include giving yourself a reasonable stopping distance between you and said moron. In a rear-end collision the rear-ender will most likely receive the ticket.

In my state, at least, you are required to stop first at a red light and then you may turn right on red.

There was a poster here who thought the exact same thing. But he also showed the photos the cops sent him...along with his ticket.

If that person seriously collides with someone that has stopped at a yield sign, then that person is not following the actual rules.

It was quite a good roasting I believe. Coupled with some ownage using the timestamps of speed/conditions of the light in the picture to prove that he indeed did NOT stop.

do you people read the thread before posting?!
I agree with you, but the car in the front is still unnecessarily stopping at the yield sign and backing up traffic

I think people just don't look at the street signs. When they come to an intersection they want to err on the side of caution, so they just completely stop. What I really hate is when people stop at an intersection that has "keep moving" signs. That's probably the one time where the person doing the rear-ending is not at fault.

When traffic is clear, why should anyone be stopped at a Yield Sign? To tie their shoes?
