after updating with #kb951748 (published today), network functions stopped - probably from a conflict with zonealarm b/c I didn't get the popups needed to allow network connectivity. after i uninstalled it, network worked fine... in my inpatience, i didn't try shutting down zonealarm first and then re-trying connectivity.

may or may not happen for you - just a psa for all =)
 
KB951748 is for today's critical DNS cache poisoning vulnerability. You need to reinstall that patch and disarm Zone Alarm for now until they can get their act in gear.

i looked around on the web, and apparently it is a big deal for ZA users.... ZA, of course, says to uninstall the update and to keep ZA installed (market share)... I reinstalled the update, but had to put ZA down on medium from high to get everything to work... ZA say they are working on a fix, so I'll give them a lil bit of time until I change firewalls
