The heavy metals from the toxic substances used to produce meth (lighter fluid, antifreeze, ammonia etc) leech out through the skin causing sores, hair loss, and tooth loss. Much nastier stuff than alcohol or even coke.

No offense, but to label the fight against meth as "sensationalism" is pretty ignorant. This stuff destroys lives, especially those of unborn children born with severe lifelong ailments and young children living in meth labs who effectively bathe in this soup of toxic chemicals.

..seen the same thing wit coke doppers..they all get that "scrotum face" appearance from the poisonous effects of coke and contamination from the bootleg manufacturing process..I recall a 60 min.segment that indicated that unleaded gasoline is used in the manufacturing of coke and is heavly contaminated wit gasoline additives.

I think you're making that up.

First piece of evidence being that heavy metal toxicity typically targets the CNS. Sores, hair loss and tooth loss aren't known symptoms. Text No mention of sores, hair loss or tooth loss. Arsenic can produce mottled brown skin, but I see no evidence of that.

Text this link mentions some reports of heavy metals in meth, but it seems they aren't prominent, and again, the symptoms don't match.

There are plenty of bad side effects to consuming meth, no need to invent something. The people in the pictures were probably done in by extreme sleep deprivation and a very bad diet, leading to immune system depression and a whole host of other problems.

Stimulants tend to cause dry mouth, which in turn causes tooth decay. Many users stop practicing oral hygiene, if they ever did in the first place. It's as simple as that. As far as sores, it's a common belief among users that the meth in their system condenses into crystals underneath the skin. Many pick at their skin, causing the sores shown in a few pictures, and smoke what they believe to be meth but is actually just their own tissue :grimace; No need to spread misinformation & FUD - the truth is bad enough.

Being from Portland, I think the guys here that are trying to say cops are liars cuz Meth does nothing to you are morons. Meth is a huge problem here and half our population looks like that and they smell like it too. It's becoming such a sickening problem I'm considering relocating.

From personal experience and seeing many documentaries on very heavy meth users I cannot believe this persons physical appearance deterioriated that much in 4 months.

Also note the "before" pics are presumably posed photos from when the people weren't using yet. They had time to prepare, smile, who knows if theyr'e anything like my family they took several pics. Presumably the women are wearing makeup.

The second pics are more "candid."

You "know" nothing. At least, no more than any of us do.

Yes I do know more than you, and most of the people here when it comes to these drugs. I personally know people who were heavily addicted to meth, shooting it as their main way of taking it. I have also delved very far into the drug scene, involving mostly meth and mdma. Not a single person I know deteroiated that quickly.
If you look at the rest of the photos the people using for years on end and they look at about the same rate of break down as the first lady.

I know how the propaganda machine works when it comes to drugs. Further looking at the picture I guess she isn't -that- bad, but I still believe there is more time and circumstances involved to that picture.
