I recently got in on a buy.com deal for a 256 MB stick of PC2100 RAM for ~$11 AR. Just got it today and decided to pop it in my motherboard. Well, I did and the RAM on my BIOS startup only went upto 512 (should have been 3x256). Well, I proceed to boot into windows and halfway through the bootup, I get an NTFS.sys is corrupt: run setup to repair message. At this point, I think my HD is corrupt coz I just had a BSOD before I installed the RAM.
So I boot from my Windows XP CD-ROM and half way through the setup load phase it says: "Cannot load setupddr.dll: Error code 4".
Rebooted a couple of times and still the same thing happends. Now, I'm sweating and I just figured to take the RAM out as a last ditch effort and ...well.. here I am
... whew... almost had a heart attack.
That teaches me... no more el'cheapo RAM in my PC. Now I have to figure out what to do with this stick since I already cut out the UPC for the rebate :|
