Torchlight is one of those games that I must have gotten 85% through the game, got totally frustrated on a certain part - either lost in the mines or stuck looking for some switch - and just flat out gave up on it. I did enjoy it at first being a big fan of Dungeon Siege, but whereas I finished that game multiple times on multiple difficulties, I just found TL to be a grind that wore me out.
I won't ever complain about free - its a great game even at $10, but my patience with certain parts just ran out.
I like dungeon crawlers, but I got frustrated with Torchlight, too. I think it was just because of the sheer number of items that you got. I know that is part of the fun of games like that, but I found myself spending way TOO much time comparing the loot to the stuff I had equipped. There wasn't a way to tell at first glance if it was better (Green #'s if a stat goes up and red #'s if it goes down, for instance). So it started to feel like "homework" and not fun.
I'm thinking of picking up Torchlight II during the Steam Summer Sale; is it like part 1 in that regard or did they improve on the item management?
