Great episode, maybe better than any of them last season. As for the host dynamics, James May has ALWAYS carried that show, so that's nothing new. He's a great presenter in his work outside of Top Gear, too.

I think Eric Bana would have had a good shot at topping the board if the track had been dry. He ran way faster in the wet than most people do in the dry.

James is great. Hammond is the worst presenter of the 3...but I still like him. I especially like when James and Hammond do something together. Like when they stayed in a Smart Four-Four for a 24 hour period...or when they did the mini-bike drunk driver service...those were classic.

That being said, Jeremy is comic gold when live. The other two have no where near the sharp witted humor in a live setting. Also, Jeremy is a fantastically, ridiculous writer. I love reading his Times articles on cars... because usually 90% of it is some rant on a completely different subject... and 10% might be on the car... which in reality i don't car about anyway.

Quite a good first episode IMO - better than the last couple of seasons. It bodes well for the remainder of the season.
