Eating is a causing pain. You can eat animals, which means you are killing them, or you can eat plants, which means the same thing.

Studies have shown that plants can communicate with each other via clicking and respond to attacks with a 'pain response'. So eating apples is a lot like ripping off the arms of a cow every summer and waiting for them to grow back.

The fact is humans need food to survive and we were built to be able to eat both meat and plants. Will things suffer so I can live? Yes. This would happen no matter what I do. Do I enjoy steak? Oh hell yes. So fuck it, I'll just deal with the fact that my enjoyment of steak means the death of a cow.
Cow arms.......do you live near a nuclear waste dump?

Are they tasty?

I prefer cook the fish skin side down for a few minutes. Then Turn skin side up on the broiler until finished cooking. Salmon should be cooked medium rare. Broiling the skin side up makes the skin tasty and delectable. Yummmmm..............

I actually stopped eating Salmon because of the whole farm/sea lice issue. I'm normally not any sort of whackjob about food and cruelty and what not but Salmon farms in the Pacific Northwest are killing off the wild Salmon populations and threatening the Orcas and Bears in the region.
Even Salmon labelled "Wild Atlantic Salmon" is most likely grown in open water pens in the P.N.W. They place these farms at the mouths of rivers and wild Salmon that are leaving or entering the river to spawn have to swim through the clouds of waste they produce. These clouds often contain Sea-Lice, which is fatal to the fish.
With the Salmon dying off, the Orcas are missing out on their yearly feed of salmon returning to spawn. Grizzlies are also getting less fish upstream.
Like I said, I'm no eco-nut but I do appreciate nature and feel that we need to preserve the Alpha predators if we want any chance of maintaining an eco-system.

The truth about the VEGAN lifestyle is that the ultimate goal is to rid the Earth of human life.

As extreme as it sounds it is simply true. Now most vegans are just doing it to look good and so they can look down on others. However to truly remove our "harmful impact" we have to remove ourselves.

Vegans are part of the cancer in our society. A bad mutation, a useless appendage.

The longest living populations in the world are those that consume a lot of fish.

That said, I'm 90% vegetarian anyways, so meh.

ignoring the PETA article, is there really a concern about buying farm raised salmon at my local supermarket (Tom Thumb/Safeway) because of the lice? I usually cook salmon 8-10 times a month because it is so easy to make...

Salmon is nasty tasting, I would not eat regardless of what peta says.

It really isn't. People that don't like it most likely had a bad experience where it was improperly prepared and they tasted the dark, fishy, fat near the skin.

I've been getting farm steelhead for like 3 bucks a pound. Tastes awesome, very similar to salmon.

Not a lot of fish choice around here. The local market has it flown in every other day. There's also not a lot of selection. Small town. I'll try it if I can find some.

Is there anyway to get peta labeled as a hate group?

I hate PETA, so sure you can call them a hate group.

I think I will thaw some of the King Salmon I caught off the coast of WA recently and make a toast to PETA tonight.
