You must be one of these retards I speak of. Your comprehension, or lack there of, gives you away. Im not "cool" for going the speed limit, infact you people should all get pulled over for going under the speed limit and impeding traffic.

Actually, it really depends on the situation. If every other car on the highway is going 60 in a 65, you're technically the one endangering other drivers by going faster.

However, as is usually the case in Atlanta, if every other car on the road is traveling at 75mph in a 55 zone, and you're doing the speed limit, even though you're obeying the law, you're actually creating more of a hazard...especially if you're in one of the left-most lanes.

my gf's dad just got a speeding ticket for driving 82 in a 65, thereby disproving your theory that 20+ is safe from tickets. That being said, there is the whole speed of the road common law that makes the definition of speeding entirely fluid. There is no clear cut concrete limit set for speeding tickets. It entirely depends on the officer on the road. the one certain thing is he can't pull you over for driving 65. Anything over and you're legally fair game. I'd rather not put my wallet at risk but if you feel so strongly about your theory, by all means, pass the cops. Good luck.

10 4! I just coast along behind them, but I don't get in the way of a-holes who think saving 1 minute by speeding down the highway is a good thing...then I get to LOL when they get pulled over.

Your OP seemed to refer to drives going the speed limit and refusing to speed in order to pass a cop, unless you are referring to a scenario on a 70mph highway. That's pretty bad when you have trouble comprehending your own post.

Yeah that's the impression I got... if sheriffs can write tickets, I wouldn't pass one on the highway. Some cops get pissed at you when you pass them, and getting to my destination a few minutes earlier isn't worth the high risk of a ticket. But I would move over so someone else can risk it.

stfu seriously...some of us prefer to drive carefully and follow the speed limit.

Ah, another who cannot read? That is perfectly fine if you'd like to admire the sheriff's car from 2 car lengths back for 15 miles.

Do it in the other 3 lanes like all the other lemmings.

Maybe that driver was preventing you from doing something even more stupid. You should thank him.

Aren't Sheriffs considered County cops ?

I think they can ticket anywhere they want in the county.

Retarded pieces of sh!t, I hate other drivers. Probably illegals or something, worried that if they do get pulled over, it isn't just a ticket. :|

ya, I see that before too... I would hate to be the one to be made an example of.

A sheriff isn't going to do anything of the sort on the freeway.

One can never be sure what a local cop will do.
In CA, in the unincorporated areas, Sherriff's deputies may be on an inter-departmental enforcement assistance patrol, say for instance, to patrol for specific infractions, such as speeding, DUI, etc.
In incorporated areas, if a local police officer is observing you, and follows you onto the freeway, you may still be pulled over for infractions observed while on the freeway.
And you can forget your arguing with me about this, my step dad is retired CHP, and we have had this discussion many many years ago.

AS George H. Bush/Dana Carvey would say, " wouldn't do it, wouldn't be prudent".

But you are free to believe whatever BS you want.

When last I drove through Atlanta, it was the running joke that the highway marker doubled as the speed limit sign.

WE have a winner ! They can enforce ANY (with exceptions for FEDERAL) law they see violated in their presence.

Why the hell would I take a risk, especially when I know for all the cop might be trying to fill his monthly ticket quota?

The freeway is technically not in the jurisdiction of the Sheriff. That's for the CHP to patrol. Local cops and Sheriff don't patrol the freeways here in CA. They do however use them to get places.

Never confuse "patrolling" with enforcing obvious violations.

the exception is in counties where there are inter-departmental "memorandums". Which btw, most counties have entered into to prevent wholesale ignoring of MVC violations in remote areas. city cops and sherriffs are far less likely to bother with a minor infraction, but in rural and suburban areas, you ignore local and county LE at your own risk.
In these cases, Sherriff's deputies will be on an enforcement team tasked with particular infractions, such as speed enforcement, or DUI. They can do this because State funds are used to maintain Federal Highways.
People used to believe that CHP wasn't allowed to use radar , but the truth is they were simply prohibited from BUYING radar guns for a particular county.
The work around was that the county in question would buy the radar and then present it to the CHP district and thus, CHP borne radar enforcement has arrived.

BS...I've seen cops pull people over for 5mph over the limit because they thought they were being reasonable even though the cop was right behind them. If a cop is behind or beside me, I'm not doing .00001 mph over the speed limit. Whats he going to do, pull me over for not breaking the law?

Doing exactly the speed limit looks suspicious when everybody else is speeding. Looks like you're trying to hide something, or be inconspicuous. ;)

Kekekeke, I got pulled over for doing 21 over and GET THIS, I didn't get reckless. I think in FL doing 30+ is a felony though. BTW, he was a state trooper, not a sheriff.

One morning on I-75 I noticed everyone driving SLOW AS FVCK around a sheriff that must've been from 6 or 7 counties away as I had never heard of a Washington County in FL, ever. I passed him doing 15+, he didn't care.

So this is an observation I've made many times. I drive relatively fast on the freeways. Usually ~80mph or so. Whenever I'm at this speed & there is another car behind me tailgating because they want to go faster, it's ALWAYS a big ass TRUCK or SUV.

Why???? Does being in those huge cars going 80mph feel like 60 mph to you?
