So, if you update to OS 10.12, your iCloud contacts may disappear.

Don't panic. It turns out the iCloud account gets hidden by default. Go into Preferences, Accounts tab, select your iCloud account, and click the "enable" checkbox.

*phew* that was scary.

Forgive me, I just want to clarify, you are saying Apple's cloud solution for syncing things between all their devices is hidden by default? Am I misunderstanding you? That doesn't make sense to me and isn't my experience with the 2 Sierra installs I have done.

Hey, I'm just saying what happened - I upgraded this dude to Sierra and his contacts "disappeared."

I googled around a bit and it doesn't look like we're the only one it's happened to.

Maybe it's not a default, setting but it's definitely a thing. So if it happens to you, don't panic. :D
