A muscle car is a high-performance automobile. The term principally refers to American, Australian and South African models with large-capacity engines produced between 1964 and 1973 for American cars and between 1968 and 1976 for Australian cars.

I'd say thats an accurate description of how I also see it.

By that definition the 5.0 mustang fox bodies are muscle cars...and actually 4.6L is pretty big compared to other cars. Not to mention the whole retro styling coming out everywhere, called the Muscle Car resurgence by better automotive sources than wikipedia.

Low Low Low 13's and if you are a good driver, high 12's. Easily modable and motor can handle a great deal of power.

Which year? GT500 costs ~50k and the Terminator 03-04 was 34 for the coupe. Both run in the mid 12s with a good (i.e. great) driver.

The trouble with this thread is that the term sports car is not a very well defined term. Ask 5 different people what a sports car is and you'll likely get 5 different answers. That said, I would define a sports car as any one or two passenger vehicle that is low slung, powerful, and handles and brakes very well...basically, a Lotus Elise. 😛

Still, I'm probably as guilty as anyone for misusing that term. 😱

Of course a car with mods beats a stock car, he's not arguing that any which way. Did you read his description of it above in reply to my post? I'm assuming most of you have never driven a car with a good bit of power (300-500HP) in a car.

I don't think it even matters if a Civic can beat the Mustang for his point.

Honda is at pains to insist that this doesn't mean the 2007 Type-R's gone soft, though. There's 198bhp on offer from the 2.0-litre i-VTEC engine and performance has not been watered down: 0-62mph still comes up in 6.6 seconds.

Take off 0.1 to be conservative with the 0-60 and your V6 is looking pretty weak sauce.

While I would rather not argue semantics, if you are going to use the numbers of a civic type R, then I guess you would then have to up the Mustang from a V6 to a GT.
