I doubt anything's flammable, but the paint job is somewhat disorienting. Perhaps I could fall while carrying some exotic strain of bacteria that causes explosive diarrhea in those afflicted with it. 😀

 
That rubber stuff is actually on a lot of stairs that I've seen recently. But beyond that, yeah, I can't really do much to justify. You'd think all that damn construction OUTSIDE your buildings would be enough without wanting to mess around with the stuff inside, too.
 
at my last job...people would take the damn elevator all the time. You know how many floors were in the building? Two. :roll:

The rubber stuff is only in that stairwell. The rest have the basic sandpaper-ish nonskid stuff on the edge of the stairs.

The stuff outside is mostly building that fence around the whole campus. It's nice-looking and all, but it's super-duper reinforced underneath the stone so some whack-job can't drive a truck bomb into the building or anything.
