Diamond Pet Foods is voluntarily recalling several brands and/or co-brands of pet food kibble due to an outbreak of salmonella that may possibly trace back to Diamond Pet Foods.

Also if you feed any kind of jerky to your pets, I'd avoid anything from China right now.

Personally I am not buying any food products from China as they just got caught using formaldehyde on lettuce for export.

What's the purpose of Formaldehyde for ? to preserve it from going bad ?

You mean, up until the formaldehyde incident, you were just fine with trusting food from China?! 😛 I avoid ANY food product from China. I think that after they added melamine to milk in 2008, I thought, "wow, they'll do anything to make a profit." The level of inspections in China is pathetic compared to the inspections in the U.S. - which are pathetic themselves.

OP, thanks for posting this. My dog is (was) eating Taste of the Wild and her bags of food are part of the recall. We will be switching her immediately.

Thanks OP, i didnt think i was part of the recall until i clicked on the link and saw Kirklands (Costco) Super Premium Dog Food

I'm not mad at China. I'm mad at the US based cocksuckers that know about this kind of problem and fail to thoroughly check things before selling it to US citizens.

Same here, but for their cat food. Have only purchased the Kirkland brand twice now, but never again. A few weeks ago one of our cats had bloody diarrhea, so we switched back to the Dick Van Patten's Natural Balance. It was another week before he got better, so I'm sure it was the Kirkland's cat food now. Fuck! 😡

Thanks for the heads up. The Kirkland stuff didn't pertain to stuff distributed in CA so I guess I don't need to worry about that.

My dogs and cats turn their noses up at the Kirkland pet foods...and we don't buy cheap pet food...Iams is what all of them have eaten for nearly their entire lives.

(no, I'm not calling Iams a "premium" pet food, but it's better than most "grocery store" brands.)

I feed my dogs 4Health. The current bag meets that Use By Date, but not the Production Code. Looks like we are okay.

Hard to do when you're talking about millions of product that comes overseas, you can't have inspectors for everything unless you're willing to pay for it.

Same thing for foods that come from other countries, let alone that it happens here is the US almost as often.

This is why i spend the extra money on all natural cat food processed and packaged by a local company i could drive to in less than 30 min. Cost twice what most of the listed brands of this recall cost but at least i dont need to worry about it killing my cats.

The problem with brand-name pet foods is that you don't know. We have rather piss poor labeling laws, after all.

Iams sucks, even the grain free Iams. Taste of the Wild, by Diamond, ranks very high. I wonder if their quality has gone down as of late though.

That's very odd, as the Kirkland cat food (feline maintenance) is a whole other factory and the cat product is one of the better cat foods.
