I'm with ya on this one. It just pisses me off that this is the sort of stuff that our society thinks "matter". Please, oh please can we just stop the damn coverage. When the verdict is handed down, sure gimme the playbyplay. Until then? Gimme stuff that actually DOES matter.

Thom Yorke mentions this in Meeting People Is Easy when during an interview he talks about how its' "fvcking ridiculous" how famous people in the US are treated because in England, they're not really a whole lot more special.

The CNN station I used to watch news on just had some change in format recently and now it's mostly showbiz and entertainment news crap, so I quit watching it altogether. Sure glad I did too; I find myself more at peace now. I went through most of the Clinton years without ever watching the news; in fact, I didn't even know he was re-elected until months afterwards. I was very much at peace during that time and I think I'll go back to that. Ignorance is bliss.
